I came across a few Hallmark cards that were given to me during treatment and I decided to read them again. Why you might ask? Well, sometimes all it takes are those words of encouragement to comfort you to get you through…LIFE.
Last week, my Dad had chest pain (aka: Angina) and was admitted to the ER. Soon after, he was told that he needed to have Coronary Bypass Surgery (aka: Open Heart Surgery). My Mom broke the news to me while I was a work. I dreaded that phone call. It reminded me of when I heard the news about my breast cancer diagnosis in 2009. My stomach turned upside down and my anxiety level made me delusional-This was MAJOR. It was another mortality check except this time-it was my Dad. As my family waited anxiously in the ICU waiting room, all I could think of was the surgery and all the risks involved. Fortunately, his surgery went well and he is now back home on his own road to recovery. Thank you, God. This week was INTENSE.
It’s scary to think of what lies ahead especially the older we get. It can bring new and exciting adventures but challenges along the way. No matter what happens, one thing for sure is that Life has an expiration date. Those little and big bumps in the road, people we meet, places we go are all part of one big puzzle that makes up you and me. It’s the way you and I were intended to be. Sometimes things are out of our control and all you can do is TRUST in him. When the road seems crooked, know that it will be straight again one day.
I personally want to thank each and everyone one of you for being a part of my life. For those who’ve sent me cards to cheer me up, wish me well, or just wanted to send a hug, please know that I’m amazed and humbled by your thoughtfulness and not only were you there for me during that one crazy time in my life, you’ve managed to come back and remind me of how special and blessed I am. Although our paths are unknown, what I do know is we are only given what we can handle and it’s important to trust that things happen for a reason. It may sound cliche but personally, I feel we learn from everything we experience and it helps us grow into the person we are today and prepare us for what lies ahead….
Hugs & Love,
Michelle
